One Secret of Life
By:
Julie Jordan Scott - [self]
I hear it all the time. Folks long for a more satisfying life. People look for a guarantee. Perhaps you want that sureness... that definitive formula that will prove that your path will be filled with contentment, pleasure, and happiness before you step into your next moment completely. What if you discovered a way to absolutely experience all of that and more each and every day for the rest of your life? I can almost hear you thinking: "That would be an amazing revelation" or maybe "Nope, impossible" or "Tell me the formula so I can sell it and become a millionaire!!!" And when I share the secret with you, I can also foresee your response being similarly doubtful or incredulous. How effortless and glorious would you like your life to be? If you were to hear about something profound AND simultaneously very simple, would you be willing to experiment with it? I don't mean lackadaisically try it out, I mean to give it your best. The request is to really take hold of the principle, integrating it into the very center of your being. James Taylor said it like this: "The secret o' life is enjoying the passage of time." Sit with that a minute. Hear it again. Close your eyes as you say it out loud to yourself. Read it again. Stay with me as we take it a step deeper. If you want to take this even deeper, go to the end of the article and cli~ck to listen to the audio recording of this song in its entirety. Print the lyrics for further reference. And then come back here, stay with me. The way to enjoy the passage of time is to allow yourself to be grateful in each and every moment for each and every piece of each and every experience even when you look around thinking "this is not what I bargained for today!" Actually, it is ESPECIALLY when you look around yourself thinking, "This is NOT what I bargained for today, yesterday, last week, tomorrow or EVER!" In these times, the power of this secret is revealed with even more power and passion. I understand how easy it is to be grateful when the positive evidence is flowing and surrounds you in every situation in your life. Ironically, tt is when there is little or NO evidence of ANY positive flow ANYWHERE that you stand the most to gain through a purposeful, deliberate shift. For one thing, the experience of no evidence of flow indicates what exactly? It does not indicate wrongness. It does NOT indicate inability. It does NOT indicate failure. It is simply a message. It is an invitation to discover the path towards a lifestyle where every moment is enjoyed regardless of its outcome or appearance. It is an invitation to be grateful for the simplicity of experience the secret of life. To further quote James Taylor: "Any fool can do it. There ain't nothing to it" and "Einstein said we could never understand it all." A note of interest: he actually changed the title of his song from "Secret of Life" to "Secret O' Life" because the first way was too serious, too stuffy, too. well, not the message he wanted to convey. What is the message of your life speaking to you? What are the secrets it wants you to hear? Instead of needing to understand exactly how it works or why it works or trying to prove how or why it won't work for you, will you take some time to actually try it out? To experiment with it? Now is your time to step into a place of enjoying the passage of time. Allow your life to unfold. Enjoy it. Invite gratitude to do its work both with you and for you. Do you REALLY long for a more satisfying life? Don't accept anything stopping you for another minute. Enjoy the passage of time. Activate Your Passion. Now. ******* Listen to a beautiful acoustic guitar/piano clip of James Taylor singing the song "The Secret O'Life here.
