Three Secrets from My Car to Your Life
By:
Julie Jordan Scott - [self]
I sat in the drivers seat, pushing down on the control switch. I was tired of leaning on it but I wanted the window down. I finally paid attention enough to notice I was unlocking the door, not lowering the window. Crouching next to the tire needing air, I put the hose to the valve stem and pulled the lever. Water spilled over my tire. I had the water hose, not the air hose to my tire's valve stem. I checked my mirrors, turned around and put my foot on the gas. It was time to get the children to school and get my day flowing. I gave the gas more juice, still no movement. I paused and noticed the car was still in park. I will not get anywhere in park no matter how hard I pushed on the gas pedal. There is such brilliance in my vehicle. It doesn't matter how much force I use to open the window, as long as my finger is on the door locking device it will not impact the window. I can attempt to fill my tire with air yet if I have the water hose in hand and try to inflate it using water the outcome will not be that which I desire. I may be wet, the car may be wet. It certainly will not have more air in the tires no matter how much water I attempt to put into it. Finally, I will have no motion if I do not put the car-or my life- into gear. As long as I am parked I will be stationary. The only way to move is to put the car into drive, shift into first gear and add some fuel power to my intention to move. As the driver of a car, you have to put the pieces together whether that means opening windows, adding air or actually moving the vehicle from point A to point B. As the driver of your life, you have to have your hands on the levers that have an impact on that particular part of your life. For example, if you want to lose weight, you will have far greater success if you take in less food and raise your metabolism. If you want to lose weight and you clean your closets while eating a hot fudge sundae, more likely than not you will have a cleaner closet and your waistline will either stay the same or get larger. Lets apply this to your life: Where do you have your finger on the mismatched button? Where are you using the mismatched equipment to get your job done? In what ways are you in Park instead of in Drive? How can you shift gears in your life to get your life moving in the appropriate direction? Commit today to not only thinking or considering the answers to these questions. Put your life into gear and move forward, even if it is only a very small, almost unnoticeable distance. The important piece is that YOU will know you moved. That you committed and went forward. Activate Your Passion.
