Residential Inspections Bring Safety Home

By: Richard A. Piccolo - [other]
For most of us the biggest purchase we will make in our lifetime is the purchase of a new home. Fortunately, we can rely on the expertise of building inspectors, through code inspection, to make sure our property investment meets established safety and environmental standards.

The purpose of an inspection is to bring everyone involved in the construction process together on the same page. Building code inspectors protect new homeowners from shoddy work and unscrupulous practices. Their service is vital in ensuring standards and building codes are followed before a structure is occupied. When noncompliance to code is found the building inspector will hold up a project until necessary corrections are made. Building inspectors are in essence the watchdogs for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Without an inspector's final approval a structure cannot be occupied.

In a perfect world we would not need permits or building inspectors, but we live in an imperfect world. It is comforting to know that we are supported by people that look out for our personal benefit and wellbeing.
