Body, mind and Spirit~ Our Health in America

I had been having some problems with my health, on and off. So, I finally broke down and called a new doctor someone had recommended. I was in shock and once again thrown into a frenzy of emotions when they said I could see them in two months!! The woman on the other end of the phone line then asked me what was I making the appointment for. I told her and she said maybe they could get me in a bit earlier. She checked and said no, but she would put me on the cancellation list. I hung up the phone and I could barely believe the system. I was frustrated and dismayed to say the least. I have always been a good patient, once I was in there, listening to what the medical professionals said to do, but over the last five years I had come to a realization that I was tired of people telling me that I don't know anything about my own body. I had made a stand not to just do what every doctor said because if I had, at times I would have hurt myself more than help. I have respect for doctors, some of them, but what is happening to our healthcare system in the United States? I began to really ponder that question and stated that for one, there are too many people going to doctors. They put their faith and trust in them for many things, they could do themselves. There are hundreds of doctors here where I live and a huge, beautiful hospital, but yet, what is it saying about our society when we have so many doctors and can't be seen for months at a time for appointments? I have seen emergency rooms overflowing with people for minor problems not just because of some poor judgment, but also because so many people don't have regular family doctors anymore, because some only give them ten minutes of their time and then shove pills in their faces. People are not being treated "wholly," doctors are treating the symptom and not the cause. A few years ago, after being tossed about by doctors, when they were not sure what to do to help me, I reached a point where I said, "enough is enough!!" I took a stand and said no more antibiotics and no more drugs if I can do without them. I even try to stay away from medicine for headaches. I have chosen to use the older methods and also common sense. I educated myself more on eating meats, preservatives, coloring in foods and sugar substitutes and more. I know that eating "real food" is the best thing for my health, but not always as easy as we think. Organic foods, you would think would be priced where the average person could afford them, in order for us all to be healthier, but its not. It's very expensive as well as herbs, supplements and whole foods these days. Why is society backwards? The things we need are harder to get and it should be the other way around! Look at what Americans and other countries are doing to themselves. Look at what we eat, drink and do to our bodies. Its no wonder the doctor's offices are bursting with patients. I also see more people not trusting in themselves. They run to the doctor for the slightest things. We need to listen to our bodies more and take a deep breath and be patient sometimes, not panic and make it worse. The prices of medications are so high, I truly feel for people that really need them. Senior citizens can barely survive when they are on a fixed income and need medications. How can we let this happen and what can we do to make a stand against the rising cost of health care? Part of my answer would be to stop going to them unless we really, truly have to. At this time, there are so many energy changes all around us, that many are feeling the affects on a physical level. Some are experiencing aches and pains, headaches, growing pains, mental confusion, emotional upheavals and more. I always take my time when I am accessing whether I should go to the doctor. I sometimes just need to pay attention to what my body is trying to tell me. Meditation classes, holistic services, herbs, energy healings and other more natural ways of healing are even out of this world expensive in some places. Again, what we need, some feel they cannot attain due to money and insurance does not cover Holistic doctors at this time. It has been deemed unconventional. Makes you think doesn't it? We put our bodies through so much and they have been pretty good to us, for the most part. We're not always happy and some have more problems than others. Before we pack ourselves into another doctors office, we need to pay attention to what we are really feeling and learn to step back and take better care of ourselves. I am going to try and see a doctor soon, for a basic checkup and then I know I probably won't do exactly what they want, but will convert it into herbal remedies and making the necessary changes I need to feel better and be healthier. I will then go to my Holistic doctor and work on things that will be gentler on my body and will last longer. This is my choice. I have a lot to do here on this planet and I choose not to give into every little health issue but to pay attention to it and balance myself within my body, mind and spirit. I wish for you the same. **Note:** This article is the Authors opinion and Medical treatment should never be overlooked when something is serious or you have been diagnosed with an illness.
